When your husband dies, and his mother hates you what do you do? Laura Fitzhugh is in that position; her Mother-in-law is Turing her out now that Frank (Laura’s husband) has been gone over a year. Now Laura only has her wonderful daughter Josie left. Laura is offered a home and a job in Morgan’s Crossing Montana as a manager of a boarding house/ hotel.

Bill Simms is a manager at the mine in Morgan’s Crossing. His wife and daughter died over seven years ago, and he has no interest in trying again. However, his life will change when he meets Laura and Josie. What happened was Josie fell and he picked her up. She then kisses his cheek. He thought that was the end. He is surprised when he learns that Laura will be the manager of the boarding house he lives in and her daughter will be there with her.  

As Bill and Laura start to learn more about each other and the attraction between them grows a threat to Josie comes up. Now they need each other to keep the family they are working on together.
