A Husband for Adeline
Golden City Brides book 3; by Cynthia Woolf
I very much enjoyed
this book. Cynthia Woolf did a great job
with Douglas and Adeline. I keep thinking would I be as clam as Adeline if I were
her.
See Adeline leaves her
father in Carson City to start a new life. To do this she must travel to New
York first, then she can travel to Central City in Colorado. When Addie (that
is what everyone calls Adeline) reaches Central City she is met by Douglas
Latimer and not her husband to be. Douglas informers her that the man she was
to marry died a couple of weeks ago as did his wife. Now Addie has a choice to
make.
Douglas Latimer’s wife
and best friend die in an explosion at their mine. He thinks it was murder but cannot
prove it. He now has his newborn baby to take care of and needs to run the mine.
Oh yeah, he needs to meet his best friend’s mail-order bride and send her away,
but then he meets her. Now he thinks they can help each other. He offers to
marry Adeline if she agrees to take care of his daughter so he can work the
mine. He tells her he cannot love her but at some point, will want more children.
Addie agrees to marry
Douglas and take care of his daughter. She fell in love with the baby at first
sight. As they live together as husband and wife, they start to care about each
other.
However, when they
find out there was a murder and that both Douglas and Addie are in danger now.
They need to come up with a plan to stay safe and stop the one trying to kill
them. Can they come to love each other and rely on each other? Or will this tear
apart their family they are making?
I will say that there
are a few other twists, but you need to read it to find out what they are.
