A Husband for Victoria Brides of Golden City Book 1, by Cynthia Woolf

A Husband for Victoria

Brides of Golden City Book 1, by Cynthia Woolf

I love reading books that take me back in time. Cynthia Woolf did a great job of that in this book.

We go back to the 1870’s and start the journey in New York City. Here we meet Victoria Coleman a Governess that was attacked and is now with child. Her employers are divided on how to handle this. Mrs. Thomas is a threat to Victoria and her child as she thinks it is her husbands. Mr. Thomas is worried for Victoria and sends her away to a friend that finds brides for men out west. Victoria is now a mail-order bride on her way to Golden City in the Colorado Territory. She is worried that her husband will not accept her if she tells him about her attack and child, so she keeps that a secret for as long as she can in hopes he will love her.

Andrew Mayfield is a rancher in the Colorado Territory that lost his wife and infant son six months ago. He needs a wife for his two-year-old daughter and turns to a mail-order bride service to find his new wife.  He picks Victoria up and goes right to the pastor for marriage, then it is home to start their live together.

However, Mrs. Thomas is not done with Victoria or her baby and still wants them dead. She is willing to travel to Golden City to take care of the “problem”. Mr. Thomas finds out what is wife is planning and sends word to Victoria.

Will word reach Victoria in time?  Will Andrew keep her when and if he finds out the truth about her past? Will Andrew keep her safe if he keeps her? Will Mrs. Thomas get what she wants? Will Victoria make it though all of this with her and her child’s lives? Will Victoria and Andrew find the love they both want?

Snowy Montana Nights: Dallas Debutantes Book 3 by Cynthia D'Alba

Snowy Montana Nights: Dallas Debutantes Book 3

Oh, my Cynthia has another hit here! I l loved this book. You don’t need to read the other books in this series, but I would do so any way as they too are good. I was not ready for this book to end.

So, meet Dr. Wendy McCool. She wants to get away from Dallas and all the talk about what happened at her cousins wedding.  She is also wanting to revaluate her life goals. With her mothers help she finds a private apartment at a ranch in Montana. When she gets to the ranch there are a few issues, but she will be ok with it, Right? Well except maybe the sexy cowboy that is running the ranch could be an issue.

Zane Miller missed his family ranch and was done with this hedge fund manager position in Chicago. All he wants now is to work the family ranch and give his parents some much needed time off and time for his mom to heal from her illness. So, when his mom calls from Florida and tells him that her friends’ daughter is coming to visit for a while, he is not sure this is a good idea. The only thing he hears from the phone call is she is a spoiled debutante that was left at the alter in Dallas, and she is to stay in the apartment. An apartment that is not livable because of busted water pipes that he has not fixed yet nor did he tell his parents about the apartment problems. He asks when she will arrive, he is told this afternoon. Now what is he to do? He does not have time for this.

When he picks her up at the airport neither know what to make of the other. They really no nothing about the other person. Will they handle being on the ranch together or will she leave right after she gets there?
Hint: sparks do fly but will they catch?

A Family for Christmas; by Cynthia Woolf

A Family for Christmas; by Cynthia Woolf

I had a hard time putting this book down. It felt like it could have been a real story set during Christmas in the 1880’s. I could have been there or even been Charlotte.

Charlotte Walker is running from the only home (and town) she has ever known. She is widowed and her late husband’s brother thinks she now belongs to him. If she doesn’t run, she and her unborn child may be in for a horrible life she doesn’t want. However, she is running away during a blizzard. Now she is lost, cold, worried, and her horse just tossed her into a large snow drift. Hope is lost as she yells for help.

Adam Masters lives near Morgan’s Crossing by himself. He thinks he hears someone calling for help, but this is a blizzard and that can’t be right. Except it is, he finds a pregnant, half frozen women on his property in a snow drift. He pulls her out and takes her and her horse home.

Now the fun starts. She goes into labor and he must deliver the baby. Once the baby come and they have time to talk and wait for the snow to melt some so he can take them to town. Adam thinks he just might be falling for Charlotte and baby. Though Adam will not let that happen he is still grieving for his late wife and child. He is not ready to try again, or is he? The more time Charlotte spends with Adam the more she falls for him, but is she ready to try again?

Adam takes Charlotte and baby to town so she can move on. It is there that her late husband’s brother finds them, and he is going to force her and her child to go with him. Luckily for her the people she is staying with don’t want that to happen. Now with this trouble following her what can she do? Will Adam protect her and her child, or will they be forced back where she doesn’t want to be? Can Adam take another change on love? Will Charlotte open her heart to Adam and move forward?

Loving Arabelle

Brides of Homestead Canyon Book 2; by E. Ayers

This is a different mail order bride book then I have read before. Not my favorite but it was good.

Arabelle was raised by nuns. Her parents died when she was young and so she only knew the way of the nuns.  Now at 17 she has some choices to make. She can become a nun or move out. For the last bit she has been working for a family teaching their boys. She has some problems there like the man of the house wants her as a mistress and she does not want that. She is also getting letters that someone wants something back and she doesn’t know what it is. She has also been writing with a man named Claude that is looking for a mail order bride. When her birthday comes around, she found out that her parents had left her money.  Now the choices come. Stay and teach boys of a man that may hurt her or move on to Claude and be his mail order bride? She chooses to move on to Claude. She leaves in the dead of night for her new life.

Claude had no idea that the woman he has been writing and hoping to marry is going to be at his house one night when he comes home from work. When he meets Arabelle he is stun. He lives in a very small house and has very little to his name and hopes that will not scare her away. Now they will get to know each other and see where this will go.

Rebecca Brides of the Oregon Trail 5; by Cynthia Woolf

Rebecca

Brides of the Oregon Trail 5; by Cynthia Woolf

I like how this book is a little different from the other books in the series. This book the journey to Oregon is very short. We meet Rebecca Taylor and her siblings as they are heading to Oregon, but the real story is what happens once they get there. I love how Rebecca is a take charge kind of woman, and we see how much she loves her siblings in the choices she makes.

Rebecca Taylor is the oldest even if it is by 10 mins to her twin brother. She also has one other brother and 2 sisters. Both of their parents are dead, and she takes the responsibility to raise her siblings. So, she moves them all to Oregon. Once there she finds a home big enough for them all and more, but it needs of some big repairs. She is told that Ian will be perfect to help fix the house up. She hires him and vows to keep her mind off him. She has also caught the eye of a wealthy man in town, but there is something about him she doesn’t like. One thing is he is not Ian.

Ian Stanford is a widower with twin boys to raise. His wife was murdered, and the man is still out there somewhere. He has vowed to find her killer. He also has come on hard times as he lost his home and land to the wealthy man that is looking at Rebecca. When he agrees to help repair the house for Rebecca, he requests to move him and his sons into the house. She can’t refuse as she needs his help. However, the more time he spends with her the more he falls for her and her family.

When a new lead comes out about the murder of is wife Ian leaves to follow it. Little does he know this is going to change everything. Now Rebecca, his boys, and her family are all in danger.

Rebecca wants Ian but can she stay alive to help him find the murder?  Will Ian lose her just when he realizes he wants her too? Can they keep their family safe from harm?
